FTC’s New Rule on Fake Reviews
The FTC’s final rule targets AI-generated fake reviews. It bans businesses from creating or selling products featuring fake testimonials. The rules also prohibit fake social media metrics like bot-generated likes or views. These measures protect consumers and ensure fairness in the marketplace. According to FTC chair Lina M. Khan, “Fake reviews not only waste people’s time and money but also pollute the marketplace.”
